I did some fancy laser guided patterns in the quilting.
I think maybe I should have used a more neutral thread in the batik patches, there were a lot of light fabrics and the dark thread is kinda distracting. You can see the pattern better on the back.
I like the way the pattern came out in the squares but I'm not so sure it was worth the effort in the border. It takes quite a bit of time to set these kind of patterns up on the long arm machine. The other top I quilted is from a long ago set of blocks from a swap.
These were orphan blocks from a swap from about 12 years ago. They did not seem to me "to go together" very well but with a little fiddling and some pretty border fabrics I think it turned out well enough for a donation quilt?! And another UFO bites the dust! Funny thing is now I'm really in a finish 'um up mood. So instead of starting something new I put another top on the frame! Go team!
cheers, Claire W.
Is the laser guided pattern the leafy /flowery thing or the wavy lines?
ReplyDeleteHehe the way you all fight against that UFO-mountain, I think I'm goign to make sure I never get that far. Though that's a problam at the moment - I ran out of batting.
Fun! Woop! Woop! I don't see anything distracting about your thread color.
ReplyDeleteThe basket quilt is so pretty.
I just love the scrappy quilt. I love the way you pieced all the little bits together to make the strips of color. I can see me making one of these. What a great idea for tackling all those UFO's.
