More Gardening, Some Sewing...

Well,  The garden has been getting most of my time and energy.  There was some major gofer activity in the potato patch so I knew it was time to dig them up!

We grow quite a variety, my favorite are the Yukon Gold.  So sweet and great texture.  The odd roots next to the potatoes are White Beets and I discover a while back that simply boiling them with a onion or two makes the Best Veggie Broth Ever!
That's a mazah ball that's been soaking up that yummy broth! Yes, that hearty looking broth there is nothing but boiled beets and water.
OK, I did squeeze in some sewing,
Remember this top from Sunriver retreat?
I got this one quilted!
Finished this bar quilt.
And here are two projects on the design wall. The one on the left is a bunch of orphan blocks that I've had Forever and the one on the right is two- 4" charm packs I got as free samples at the Portland Market from the Andover booth, Love all those colors together!  When finished these 4 projects will all be going to City of Hope to comfort Cancer patients.
Well after posting all those pictures it feels a little more like I did get some sewing done!  lol.
Cheers, Claire W.

  2. Those potatoes look tiny - perfect for potatoe salad (as long as you aren't a strange northerner who makes it with mayonnaise and insist on cuttign the potatoes in tiny squares - northeners are really strange sometimes).
What backing did you use for the windmill top? or is it anhourglass pattern .. can't decide - probably both wrong ...
The bar quilt looks great - not my colours but it looks like a fast an easy quilt that still looks like "something".
Ohh I always like stars ... but then I also like a lot of other shapes and forms and patterns so .. what sashing are you goign to use on the 4" squares ... you can't use white and I'm not suggesting black either ... it just looks as if every available colorus is already somewhere in the squares - ohh hmm maybe a dark saturated yellow ... or hmm a bright dark pink (urghh - but well it's not in the squares)
