Busy week, some sewing, nothing finished...

Here's the design wall yesterday...
Thanks to Lori D.  I dug out the Friendship blocks from last summer and made some progress with those and then I got momentarily distracted by some pink orphan blocks which I will make into a charitable quilt.  And I've made reasonable progress on the 'Modern' Scraps thing, but now I'm a bit bogged down because I'm having trouble with the bottom border?!  I've kind of run out of scraps and looked through my stash but  not found any ideal candidates. But I'm not going shopping!  Here's what I've auditioned...
I think the color is good on these two but the prints are more refined than the others?
The fine print may be the calmness that it needs at the bottom but I do like the colors of the circle print?
This print has paisleys like the side borders but the color is a bit dull?  Or maybe I should just go for a solid?
What do you think?
Happy Saturday Sewing!
cheers, Claire W.

  1. Love what you are doing with your Friendship block! If I had to choose I think it would be the blue floral for the border, but you have to go with what makes you 'happy' with the quilt! Look forward to seeing what you do!

  2. No to the paisly border ... the circles yes they could work ... the gray fabric is too dark for a spring day .. I like the floral choice best, and the right one more than the left because it also has the springy green in it ...

  4. This is such a fun project, and you pulled me right in to your process. I've changed my mind several times since I decided to comment, so likely I am no help. My first thought was a buttercream / yellow, then I noticed the gray tonal looks a bit like a driveway, which I like, but perhaps lighter gray there - it seems a bit dark. And actually I like the paisley too, but it also seems just a bit dark - maybe if it were broken up a bit. Then I thought of a red on white (or cream)- Like a Sweetwater I have. Or maybe a large row of broken dishes patchwork, almost like a wonky fence. And you could still do the driveway thing?. Wish I could come over and play. I do love the circle print, but it gets a little lost ? hmm, it will be fun to see what you come up with!

  6. Hey Heidi, Wow! That's a lot of ideas! I'm not sure what a Sweetwater is?! I like the idea of Wonky broken dishes or rail fence, but I'm lazy, I was hoping to find one nice wide scrap to sew at the bottom and call it finished! But if I can't settle on something that might be the way to go! thanks, cw
