Vintage Blocks!

A friend gifted me with these vintage blocks.  I'm thinking they are probably around the Turn of the Last Century vintage?!  Anyway they are in really good shape.                                  My friend had already started to  sew them together so I think I will just finish the job.  I only need to make one more block to make a 6 x 6 top.
The blocks are mostly shirting fabs.  A lot of very graphic stripe type prints.  When put side by side they have a great look!

The blocks are all hand sewn.  But I think I will sew the blocks together by machine.
Should be an interesting process!
Happy Labor Day to you all!
Cheers. CW

  1. Really beautiful. The blocks are very precious. I think this layout is probably what the maker was planning to do.

  4. This is great! This has a figure/ground look for me: I either see the stars or the 4 patches and the half-square triangles. Fun.

  6. They are striking stitched together without sashing. It's interesting to see the back. I noticed that the quilter pressed the seam out but switched to seam pressed in near the point (of what could be a flying goose but is part of the star point). Lucky you to be given such wonderful blocks!
